Mammoth Adds Three More Ethernet POPs

Mammoth Networks has completed three additional core Points of Presence (POPs) in Boise, Idaho, Phoenix, Arizona and Portland, Oregon during the month of May. The company also completed POP upgrades in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Eugene, Oregon. This brings the company’s total POPs to twenty-one. The three new POPs are significant because they allow Mammoth to expand support for Ethernet and TDM services to both metro and rural customers in those extended markets. Rural connectivity always been a challenge and Mammoth is considered a pioneer in this area, due to the company’s foresight to grow into a single source wholesale data aggregator for its clients, acting as a one-stop shop for provisioning, billing and support in these environments.

The new POPs will serve as aggregation points for Mammoth, allowing the company to deliver services to Service Providers and ILEC clients throughout these three states. The three POPs will allow Mammoth to interface with four additional regional fiber providers, deepening Mammoth's Ethernet reach.

"We had three contracts for services into the Portland POP by the time it was completed - it is great." said Brian Worthen, CEO of Mammoth. "We started the Phoenix build with an anchor tenant and wound up expanding the POP there to support another Mammoth Partner by the time our equipment shipped."

During the past few years of economic contraction in many areas, Mammoth’s expansion should be strongly noted as a positive area of growth. In the past two years the company has ventured east of the Mississippi, opening POPs in Atlanta, Georgia and Chicago, Illinois. The company prides itself in supporting legacy services alongside newer, IP-based services.

“With our expanding suite of business communication services and our focus upon the IP cloud, our relationship with Mammoth will enable us to access more businesses in new geographic markets and fulfill our long term growth strategy. I applaud their continued investment to expand their service area. It is a testament to their focused interest in their clients’ success," said client Jeff Rhoden, managing partner of InfoStructure, which interfaces with Mammoth's Portland POP.

Mammoth Networks is a facilities-based aggregator of wholesale data services, providing service across the contiguous 48 states and Canada. Mammoth simplifies Wide Area Networking by consolidating multiple access technologies and carriers onto a single network, and delivering to their Partners over a single interface. The privately-held company is based in Gillette, Wyoming.
