Mammoth Connects to Wave, Tackles Pacific Northwest

Mammoth Networks has established a connection to Wave Broadband in Seattle, Washington, enabling delivery of Wave's fiber services to Mammoth's clients in the Pacific Northwest. The connection to Wave was completed in September, broadening Mammoth's reach in Washington, Oregon and California. The interface in Seattle has likewise enhanced Wave's ability to service their own clients outside their coverage areas, making the relationship between Mammoth and Wave mutually-beneficial.

Mammoth's first client across the Network-to-Network Interface, or NNI, is a regional supermarket chain in Washington. Mammoth won the contract because of the company's ability to marry Wave Broadband's fiber services to those of CenturyLink, and deliver as a single provider solution to the client. The network will be set up as a private network, using Mammoth's unique ability to combine multiple services onto a single platform.

A second Mammoth customer in Everett, Washington was turned up in early October on a Wave Broadband fiber-optic connection. The customer has almost fifty locations across the West, and Wave's ability to provide service in Everett allowed Mammoth to serve one hundred percent of the customer's sites. A network provider typically can serve most customer locations, but one hundred percent coverage is rare. Mammoth addresses the gap in the marketplace with their focus on the hard-to-reach locations as well.

"We are excited about the new NNI with Wave Broadband," stated Brian Worthen, Mammoth's CEO. "Wave has unique coverage in areas surrounding metro markets like Seattle and Portland, which we can now list as on-net and quote to our partners. The fact Wave wants us to deliver metro services to their network makes this a win-win."

Demonstrating the effectiveness of the relationship, Wave turned up a client in Vancouver, Washington last week on a Mammoth-provided fiber circuit. Wave's client is able to be included in the Wave network through the NNI in Seattle. The relationship between Mammoth and Wave has broadened Wave's ability to serve metropolitan areas and expand the company's reach beyond their fiber.

Patrick Knorr, Executive Vice President of IP and Business Services at WaveDivision Holdings stated, “Wave couldn’t be more pleased to partner with Mammoth - at the core of both our businesses is our sincere commitment to providing superior products and exceptional service and complete solutions to our customers.” Knorr went on to say, “This partnership allows Wave to continue our tradition of expansion in strategic West Coast markets.”

Wave Broadband is a subsidiary of WaveDivision Holdings, LLC, a cable and broadband services company providing advanced cable TV, true high-speed Internet and phone services to more than 400,000 residential and business customers. Serving customers under two retail brand names (Wave Broadband in the communities surrounding Seattle, Portland and Sacramento, and Astound in the San Francisco area), the company’s mission is to provide all customers with the latest fiber-optic technologies. Wave was recognized by CableFAX Magazine with the prestigious Independent Cable Operator of the Year award in 2012. Wave also debuted on PC Magazine’s 2012 list of Top 10 Fastest ISPs in the nation.
